Last Sunday, on 14th of June 2015, a Kpop group that is known for being concept-dol called VIXX was invited to be the judge for Kpop World Festival held by KBS World in association with Astro Circle. The multitalented group consists of N (leader), Leo (main vocal), Ken, Ravi (rapper), Hongbin, and Hyuk.

We were invited to the press conference session that was held at 2:00PM of the same day at Just Seafood, Sunway Giza Mall. The emcee was Hani Fadzil, who is a local radio’s DJ. It started with VIXX’s short introduction in Bahasa Melayu and proceeded with photo time.

The event proceeded with Q&A session and media representatives were given the chance to ask questions to VIXX. Below are the questions which were picked and answered by VIXX:

Question: Since you are going to be judges for today’s event, what are your criteria for the judgments?

Answer by N: I know how much they practice and although it’s also important, I believe that the core element of a great team should be team work, just like VIXX, so I will look after the team work for this competition

Question: What is your advice for the contestants?

Answer by Hongbin: Don’t be nervous and enjoy your stage as much as you can.

Question: Since you have experienced as trainees, how would you judge (the contestants)? Will you judge them from your idol point of view or trainee’s stand point?

Answer by Ravi: It has been 3 years since our debut, so I will be judging them from an idol’s point of view and see how much they had practice and how much they managed to deliver on stage

Question (for Ravi): Since you are going on a show, Show Me The Money 4, and there are a lot of underground rappers going on the show, so is there anyone that you see as your ultimate rival?

Answer by Ravi: There are a lot of rappers that I like, for example Swings and Vasco, Zico and Beenzino, so I just want to say that I respect them (side note: The question was mistranslated in Korean)

Question: Since this is your third time in Malaysia, did you pick up any Malay words and if you have, can you please share with us

Answer by Hyuk: We finally came back to Malaysia yesterday, and we went out to eat with the producers at a famous restaurant. The word that I learned was sama-sama (you’re welcome).

Answer by Ken: Hari ini sangat gembira (I am very happy today).

Question: Are they (VIXX) going to come here for UTOPIA concert? Because before this they have went to Singapore so I wonder if they are going to come for a concert in Malaysia

Answer by N: If there is a chance to do so, of course we would love to come. But not just concerts, we hope there are lots of chances for us to come and meet Malaysian fans. Terima kasih (thank you)

As an ending speech, Hyuk spoke up to say that he is very thankful that everybody came all the way to see VIXX, and even if they did not get the opportunity to come to Malaysia that often, they are very thankful for the continuous love and support. He added if there is any chances arise, they want to come to Malaysia more often so the fans can finally meet them. Hongbin added more that they came as judges for 2015 Kpop World Festival in Malaysia, so they hope they can enjoy the atmosphere.

Last Sunday (29th March), K-Empress were invited to cover the F1 After Race Concert held in Sepang International Circuit. The main casts were 2 famous groups under the same label, which were SNSD and SHINee. The concert was supposed to start around 5:30PM, but fans had gathered as early as 9:00AM. The weather was really hot, but fortunately no one fainted despite the heat. The concert was started with a few performances by our local acts.

It rained for a while as soon as SNSD appeared to perform. Luckily, the rained stopped and the concert continued to run smoothly. The concert went in rotation - SNSD performed 2 songs, continued with SHINee (2 songs), passed the baton back to SNSD for another 2 songs, then back to SHINee for few songs... until the concert ended at 8:00PM. The stage was actually a bit too high so most of the spectators could not see what happened on stage but it was revealed SHINee's Minho had tripped on stage while performing due to the wet stage. Throughout the concert, Tiffany spoke in English to interact with fans while for SHINee, it was Key who kept flaunting his good English.

SNSD performed 10 sets of songs - [ Mr. Taxi, Genie, The Boys, Complete, Back Hug, Hoot, I Got A Boy, Kissing You, Gee, Mr. Mr. ] while SHINee performed 8 songs - [ Sherlock, Lucifer, Love Like Oxygen, Why So Serious, Ring Ding Dong, Dream Girl, Beautiful, Everybody ] It really felt like a throwback session as they performed many of their old songs. Overall, it was really a good event despite the high platform (spectators fighting to see the artists, floods of monopods). The event went with ease with no reports on people fainting.

On 21st of March, GOT7 had successfully held their first ever fanmeeting in Malaysia. Fans were seen to be in queue since as early as 8:00am. As time passes, the number of fans gathered increased but due to good management, the venue didn't feel crowded and stuffed. When the gate opened, fans quickly gathered in their zones and began to shout for GOT7.

The fanmeeting officially started with Stop Stop It. Crowds were loud and the boys were energetic. They continued with another song called Gimme, before they stopped for a short segment. Jinny Boy, who was the MC of the day, showed the boys a video of zapin dance, and they were asked to try to dance to it. GOT7 proved that they are good in dancing as they could follow along to zapin after seeing the video once. Then, they were showed on a video of some Malaysian traditional things and were asked to memorize them as they will be tested on it.

The event continued with them performing 2 slow songs, contrasting from their usual dance tracks. After the songs ended, they went backstage for a short rest and came out again for another short game session called Guess What Is In The Box. Each of the members stood in front of a covered box, and they were asked to put their hand into it and guess what was the thing inside. Few hilarious moments were seen as the boys were kind of afraid with the unknown things they touched. In the end, they guessed everything right and the things were the ones they memorized earlier - terompah baba nyonya, sepak takraw, tengkolok, orang utan, mangosteen, and muruku.

The session continued with a Q&A session. GOT7 members were asked to pick a question each on the board the organizer prepared beforehand. It was revealed that the members wrote some questions as well. As soon as Q&A finished, they continued with picture session with VIP+ fans. The fans were separated from the boys with a line of security as to avoid fans grabbing the artists.

Time is precious, especially in events like this so they had a little break while a fanvideo was shown. GOT7 were impressed by their fans who covered the dance to Stop Stop It and praised them for doing well. They also celebrated Jackson's birthday which was on 28th of March and brought in a cake. Jackson was seen very touched with the gift and asked to take pictures first as he didn't want to ruin the beautiful cake without any proofs.

The show was nearing the end, so the boys performed A, the song they filmed their music video in Malaysia last year. Fans were screaming for an encore, and not disappointing their beloved fans, they came out again to perform the last song, Bounce. It was very energetic and the crowd was very loud from the start till the end. The boys were smiling, probably happy with the energy given out by their Malaysian fans.

The fanmeeting finally ended, and all fans were asked to leave the venue. In a nutshell, the event went really smooth with excellent management team. K-Empress would like to express our appreciation to eRama.tv for successfully holding GOT7 1st Fanmeeting in KL.
